My husband and I had plans to go away for the weekend; we were going to my Cousin Amanda’s wedding. I know all the women know, that takes a lot of prep work to get ready for a weekend get-away. I needed to get my hair and nails done. I wanted to purchase a new dress. We were also going away alone so…. (you can fill in the blank), let’s just say I wanted to extra cute.
For me going to the store to go dress shopping wasn’t the best experience. It was terrible because all the dresses I tried on looked good on the hanger, but when I put them on they didn’t look right. I got really discouraged. Some of the dresses I had to select larger dress size than I thought, so that can also bring you down. While I was trying on the dresses, I heard other women complaining that nothing looked good on them too. Then the voice comes in your head, you know that voice! That says negative things to say you, your stomachs too big, your butt is too wide, look at your thighs, etc…etc..etc!
I ended up leaving the store, not buying a dress and feeling like I was 400lbs.
The next day, I had a networking event in Manhattan to attend. I was still in a down mood but I pushed my way to the event. Dhylles Davis the Coaching Cupid was the guest speaker. She was wonderful. I knew that I was in the right place because she talked about loving ourselves, speaking affirmations, and just being FABULOUS! My big take away was for me to love my curves and my rolls!
I felt amazing! Cupid was in NYC and she had reminded me that I love me.
I went home and decided instead of trying to find a new dress the next day, I was going to wear one of my favorite dresses that I’ve worn before. The royal blue color looks great on my skin. I love myself, all of me and I needed to be reminded how great I am. My husband always appreciates and admires all of me and I am blessed to have such a loving and attentive man.
We had an amazing time at the wedding. Love was in the air! My cousin looked breathtaking and the whole wedding was great. She has a loving new husband and I pray they have many years of love. It was a great get-away for my husband and I and I am so glad I stopped that stinking thinking. I realized that was a set up just to mess up my plans. If you are not feeling good about yourself, then how could you go away and have a good time. One of the great things about God is He will send someone to meet a need you have and you just have to be open to see it and receive it. Oprah used to call it everyday angels, mine was The Coaching Cupid.
Are you stuck in stinking thinking, low self-esteem?
Definition of SELF-ESTEEM; a confidence and satisfaction in oneself: self-respect.
You are amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and awesome! Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Sometimes you just need a reminder on how great you are, just the way you are!
