Today I’ve been married for 15 years. Wow!! It seems like yesterday but I see the results of a 15 year marriage so I know it was not yesterday. We have two wonderful children, Kayla age 13 and Jalen age 7. We have a loving home and a loving relationship that developed over time. I never realized that to be married you do have to work with your spouse in all aspects of your life. My Mom and Dad raised me to be very independent and at times my views as a wife did not match my husbands views. A marriage is a true partnership and friendship. I am so proud to say I am STILL in love with my best friend!
In celebrating today I started to think about my business and compared it to how I feel about the marriage. Am I still head over heels in love with my business?
In marriage and/or a business you go through seasons. Spring: things are new and buddings, new opportunities and growth. Summer: things are busy and moving forward, you are seeing the things in full bloom. Fall: things have come into harvest and you may be on a downward turn. Things are slowing down. Winter: things are very quiet, the could also be cold and frozen. There no growth but hopefully you are prepared to weather the storm.
I have the habit of wanting my business to stay in one season and not experience the other three seasons. I realize that everyday can not be sunny! I’ve been in business for myself since I got bit by the entrepreneur bug in 2004. My business has changed, grown, failed, and rejuvenated itself through the years. I know that I appreciate all the seasons I’ve gone through with my business. I look forward to celebrating many more years in my business, just like I look forward to many more years on marriage.
What season are you in?

Michelle as usual you leave me thoughtful and inspired. As someone who was raised very independent as well, I have struggled in my relationships by not working as a partner as much as I should, and being a bit of a “control freak” when it came to my time, life, and activities. It was a hard lesson learned (divorce) but I did get the lesson, and am happily 4 years in now.
The “seasons” analogy is wonderful as well – I too feel like I am always looking for Summer, but as you pointed out, you have to have all four seasons to have any real longevity.
Thanks for the reminders and the inspiration today! Much love, Lynsey
Oh gosh, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! HA – I meant to put that up there! lol
